Camp de Morvedre Music Gala 2026 in Sagunto: special Orpheo award for the Diputación
The Diputación de Valencia (the provincial council) received the 2026 Special Orpheo for its support of band music at the 11th Camp de Morvedre Music Gala, held on 4 October at the Auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo in Sagunto.
The Diputación de Valencia (the provincial council) has received the 2026 Special Orpheo, the award with which the Camp de Morvedre Music Gala recognises its support for band music. According to radiobanda.com, the 11th Gala took place on Sunday 4 October at the Auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo in Sagunto. The award recognises more than four decades of backing from the institution for Valencian musical societies.
The Orpheo Awards are organised by the Junta Comarcal (district board) of the 13 Federated Musical Societies of the Camp de Morvedre district. At the same gala, Mónica Navarro Redondo, from Sagunto, and Manuel García Faya, from Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district), were among those who received an Orpheo.
The gala moves from place to place. The 7th was held on 2 October 2022 in Albalat dels Tarongers, where, according to the federation, the audience filled the auditorium. The 9th took place on 20 October 2024 at the Auditorio of Canet d'En Berenguer and coincided with the ninth edition of the Orpheo Awards. Sagunto now hosts the 11th.
The Special Orpheo has not always gone to an institution. In 2024 it went to Lourdes Gavilá Ana, general secretary of the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community (FSMCV), and in 2022 to Manuel Muñoz Pérez, artistic vice-president of that federation. This year, by contrast, the recognition goes to a public administration.
The Diputación's support has recent figures behind it. According to elperiodic.com on 11 August 2026, the Excel·lent 2026 grants share two million euros among more than 300 bands and music schools in the province, which, split equally, would give less than 6,700 euros per organisation. The largest item is concerts: more than 700,000 euros for those held in the province and 88,000 for those outside it. There are also more than 560,000 euros for school maintenance, 575,000 for instruments and tablets and 9,000 for scores.
