Camp de Morvedre under health warning over Vall d'Uixó wildfire smoke
Valencia's regional emergency centre (112 CV) is asking Camp de Morvedre residents on Monday to limit outdoor activity and wear FFP2 masks as thick smoke from the Vall d'Uixó wildfire spreads over the area.
The fire, declared on 25 July in the municipality of Vall d'Uixó (Castellón province), has produced a smoke plume that Spain's weather agency Aemet confirmed on Monday over southern Castellón and northern Valencia province, hitting Camp de Morvedre especially hard. The Generalitat (Valencian regional government) advises against outdoor activities, recommends FFP2 masks, and asks people with respiratory conditions, older residents and children to stay indoors while the situation lasts. An emergency regional order kept the confinement of Vall d'Uixó, Betxí and Onda in place until 23:59 on Monday, alongside the evacuation of fourteen other towns and neighbourhoods in the area, including Toledo, Carbonaire, Sant Antoni and Sant Josep within Vall d'Uixó itself, and the Montserrat and Solaig housing estates in Betxí. Weak northwest winds blew overnight, but a shift to a southeast sea breeze is expected during the morning, which could change the smoke's path. Temperatures, around 20°C at dawn, could rise above 28°C by midday near the fire.
