An accident reported around 6:30 am this Thursday on the Valencia by-pass (A-7), heading towards Alicante, caused more than 15 kilometres of traffic delays between Puçol and Paterna, according to Spain's traffic authority (DGT).

This Thursday the A-7 saw its second collapse on the same stretch in just three days: a crash reported shortly after 6:30 am near Paterna blocked traffic on the Valencia by-pass, heading towards Alicante, between kilometre markers 308.5 and 324, the stretch linking Puçol and Paterna. The tailback, which the DGT (Spain's traffic authority — Dirección General de Tráfico) first put at three kilometres, grew past 15 as it coincided with the morning rush hour. No details have been released about the cause of the crash or possible injuries. This is the second serious accident on this same stretch of the by-pass in three days: another crash already blocked the road on 7 July in the Paterna-Moncada section, pointing to a recurring problem on one of the busiest approach roads to the Valencia metropolitan area. The DGT is advising drivers to take extra care and check road conditions before setting out. According to El Periódico de Aquí.
