Man, 62, dies after being found unconscious in a car in Sagunto
The man was found on Friday in a vehicle on the CV-309 road, near construction works close to the PowerCo battery gigafactory in Sagunto.
Emergency services (CICU) received the call at 12:06pm on Friday, reporting a man unconscious inside a vehicle on the CV-309, in a stretch near construction works next to the PowerCo battery gigafactory (a Volkswagen-owned electric-vehicle battery plant). A SAMU medical unit went to the scene and performed CPR, but could not save him, and his death was confirmed. The Guardia Civil (Spain's civil guard police force) said the evidence points to a natural, non-violent death. According to the same sources, the man was found by a co-worker: he was the site supervisor for the construction works being carried out near the plant, but he did not work for PowerCo itself. The plant, announced in 2022 as Volkswagen's first battery factory outside Germany, is mentioned here only as a geographic landmark for where the incident took place, with no connection to the company's activity.
