Canet d'En Berenguer Disputes Transparency Score and Defends Its New Portal
The town council of Canet d'En Berenguer, a municipality in the Camp de Morvedre district bordering Sagunto, says a poor transparency rating published this week reflects only a 2025 trial run, not its current situation.
Canet d'En Berenguer town council has pushed back against a transparency assessment by Dyntra — an international civil-society platform that evaluates the openness of public institutions — which gave the municipality an overall score of just 10.87% (20 out of 184 indicators met), with four categories scoring zero: financial transparency, public procurement, urban planning and open data.
The council's transparency officer, Francisco Poza Prados, explains that the evaluation was carried out in June 2025 purely to test how the platform worked, not as an official review. Since August 2025 the municipality has had a new transparency portal, updated in real time and expanded with sections on citizen participation and public employment. The official 2026 assessment is expected to be completed before November, and the council reports that the Regional Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Participation has raised no concerns about the current portal.
