Sagunto City Council honoured the best school projects and teachers of the year at an awards ceremony held on Wednesday 10 June at the Mario Monreal Cultural Centre. The third edition of the Trobada Educativa Ciutat de Sagunt (local education gathering) presented prizes in five categories: Outstanding Student, Distinguished Teaching Career, Innovative Project, Coexistence Improvement, and School Absenteeism Prevention.
The sole student awarded was Àlex Gasch Rougon from IES Clot del Moro. Teaching career prizes went to Cristina Marqués (CEIP Maestro Tarrazona) and Alejandro Piera (CEIP Ausiàs March). The Innovative Project award was shared by IES Camp de Morvedre and CC San Vicente Ferrer. CEIP Ausiàs March also received recognition for Best Practices in Valencian Language Use.
The ceremony was enlivened by All Names, a performing-arts show staged by Year 1 students of IES Clot del Moro. The venue is named after pianist Mario Monreal (1938–2010), born in Sagunto and declared an honorary son of the city in 2011. According to the 2025 municipal register, Sagunto has 73,031 residents, making it the tenth most populous municipality in the Valencian Community. Source: Ajuntament de Sagunt.
