FJFS names jury that will pick Sagunto's Falleras Mayores 2026-2027
The Federació Junta Fallera de Sagunt approved on 19 May the five-member jury that will choose the senior representatives of the city's Falles festival commissions for the 2026-2027 cycle.
The meeting of presidents of Sagunto's Falles commissions confirmed the panel that will assess candidates for Fallera Major and the children's title, Fallera Major Infantil. The jury includes Nuria Carbó Dolz, Social Services councillor and deputy mayor of Almardà, representing the Ajuntament; Enrique Noverques Gil, founder of AC Falla El Mercat and former executive president of the FJFS; Sergio Blanco Pérez, director of the festival programme Univers Faller; clinical psychologist María Espinosa Jordán, based in Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district); and Ángel Escot Barberá, of the regional Junta Central Fallera. The contenders are Carmen Cantón Manzano (Falla Vila de Faura) and Empar Ríos Sánchez-Mellado (Falla El Palleter), with Maria Pozuelo Martín (Falla El Romano) as the sole children's candidate. The Fallera Major represents the federation throughout a festival cycle that UNESCO inscribed on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016 (Wikipedia).
