Recycling bins in Camp de Morvedre: side-loading models arrive in nine municipalities in November
The Mancomunidad de la Baronía, a supramunicipal body, will replace paper and packaging bins in nine Camp de Morvedre municipalities with side-loading models in November.
Residents of Albalat dels Tarongers, Alfara de la Baronía, Algar de Palància, Algímia d'Alfara, Estivella, Gilet, Petrés, Segart and Torres Torres will see their recycling bins change from November 2026. These are the nine municipalities of the Mancomunidad de la Baronía, the supramunicipal body that groups them and shares services such as waste management with them.
The real change is in how the containers are emptied. The current paper, cardboard and packaging bins are loaded from the top. The new ones will be side-loading, so the truck lifts them from one flank. According to the Mancomunidad itself, this will make the operators' work easier, shorten the time of each collection and allow a more efficient service.
The replacement will not happen overnight. It will be carried out gradually throughout November, so for a few days residents may find both types of bin on the street. Once the process ends, the side-loading system will be fully in operation in all nine municipalities.
Nor is it only a matter of swapping containers. The Mancomunidad will also relocate certain collection points, aiming to distribute them better and make them easier for residents to reach. For anyone used to leaving their waste at one particular spot, that spot could move.
The two fractions affected are paper and cardboard and packaging, which are among the main streams of separate waste collection. The stated aim is to encourage waste to be sorted at source and to make later recycling simpler.
The work is part of the Mancomunidad's effort to modernise the services its municipalities share. Waste management is one area where that coordination is needed, because collection is organised for several towns at once.
An important part is still unknown. For now the body has not said how many containers will be replaced, how much the operation will cost or which specific collection points will change location during the rollout. Those details will determine how each resident notices the change on their own street as November goes on.
