APROSAM Sagunto 2026-2027: member workshops and free mental health talks
APROSAM, the mental health association of Camp de Morvedre and Horta Nord, offers six workshops for its members this season and a cycle of free talks open to everyone until May 2027.
Anyone living in Puerto de Sagunto, Sagunto or El Puig has, between October 2026 and May 2027, a cycle of talks on mental health and wellbeing, free and open to all. They are organised by APROSAM, the Association Prosalud Mental Camp de Morvedre y Horta Nord (a mental health support association), which wants to bring information to the public and fight stigma. The calendar covers eight months.
The association set out its 2026-2027 programme in the council chamber of Sagunto City Hall, before mayor Darío Moreno; Social Services councillor Nuria Carbó; Education councillor Raúl Palmero; and its president, Jaime Romualdo. The municipal press note includes a video of the presentation.
Romualdo set two goals: consolidate last year's work and widen the offer with new activities, among them therapeutic walks and emotional intelligence. As for the talks, he wants them to reach other venues in Sagunto without dropping those in Puerto de Sagunto, and to cover different topics.
Members, with prior registration, have six workshops: Teatralmente (creativity and expression), emotional intelligence (self-knowledge and wellbeing), memory, English, nature walks and yoga. The talks are open to everyone.
Carbó thanked the board for the time it devotes to improving the lives of people with mental health problems and congratulated the association. For the new season, she said, the challenge is not to lose the participation and good reception of the previous one.
The relationship between APROSAM and the council goes back a long way. In December 2017 the plenary session unanimously approved, with all 25 councillors, a proposal from every group supporting the association's request to improve access to public services for people with severe mental illness. The text approved then describes the starting point: Sagunto Hospital had only nine beds to treat these people, and a CRIS (Centre for Rehabilitation and Social Inclusion) was planned in the municipality, for which a municipal plot was handed over, with no budget line assigned. Meanwhile, some people from Sagunto and Puerto de Sagunto travelled daily to the CRIS in Puçol, which serves Horta Nord and Camp de Morvedre. The proposal also recalled a figure attributed to the WHO: one in four people will face some form of mental illness in their lifetime. These are 2017 data; the sources consulted do not confirm whether the CRIS was ever built or whether those figures still apply.
