Puerto de Sagunto to host first regional hairdressing and beauty forum in September
Open Space Comarcal will bring hairdressing, barbering and beauty professionals from the Camp de Morvedre district together in Puerto de Sagunto on 22 and 23 September for the first Morvedre Beauty 2026 forum.
Open Space Comarcal, a vocational training and employment centre based in Puerto de Sagunto (a coastal district of Sagunto), will host the first edition of Morvedre Beauty 2026 on 22 and 23 September. The two-day event is aimed at hairdressing, barbering and beauty professionals from the Camp de Morvedre district, and carries the tagline "Entre Venus y Vulcano. Raíces y Vanguardia" (Between Venus and Vulcan: roots and vanguard). The tagline plays on the classical pairing of the goddess of beauty and the god of fire and the forge — a nod to Puerto de Sagunto's industrial past — to sum up a sector that blends traditional craft with the latest trends. The event is open not only to established professionals, but also to businesses, brands and anyone connected to the personal-image world, with the stated goal of creating new professional opportunities for all of them.
The first day, Tuesday 22, focuses on hairdressing and barbering under the theme "Culture, talent and trends." The programme includes a round-table discussion, a masterclass, a small trade fair and networking spaces for attendees. Topics up for debate include the importance of Fallas (the region's traditional spring bonfire festival) for the trade — hairstyling, make-up and costumes for Fallas neighbourhood committees generate a large share of local salons' yearly workload — and the challenges the profession faces going forward.
On Wednesday 23, the focus shifts to beauty, wellness and innovation, with practical demonstrations of new techniques, equipment and products. Across both days, the organisers share one goal: to build a stable space for training, employment and shared experience among businesses, brands and personal-image professionals, while showcasing the latest trends in the sector. The organisers stress that the forum is not just about talks: the trade fair also aims to create business contacts between companies in the sector, from product brands and distributors to continuing-education schools, introducing offerings that have not usually had a presence in the district before.
The forum is run by Open Space Comarcal, which describes itself as the leading training and employment institution in the Camp de Morvedre district. It holds an authorised job-placement licence, has its own classrooms and a virtual campus, and is based on Calle Elio Antonio de Nebrija in Puerto de Sagunto.
The centre expanded its own premises in January this year, adding more space to grow its training offer. That expansion, eight months on, is what now allows it to host a two-day forum that includes a trade fair — something it would not have had room for before. This is not the centre's first training push this year: back in May it had already launched subsidised courses for the hospitality sector, another pillar of the Camp de Morvedre economy, making Morvedre Beauty 2026 the second major sector-specific initiative Open Space Comarcal has run so far in 2026.
For the many small hairdressing, barbering and beauty businesses across the Camp de Morvedre district — a common sight in Puerto de Sagunto's neighbourhoods and in the comarca's other towns — the forum offers a rare chance for specialised training and direct contact with brands and suppliers without travelling outside the area. It also opens a route into local jobs in the sector, in line with the job-placement work Open Space Comarcal already carries out through its licensed agency.
