Playa Sur
playa · Puerto de Sagunto🏅 Bandera Azul 2026
Playa Sur is the southern stretch of the Puerto de Sagunto beach, a calmer alternative on the same Blue Flag coastline about 30 km north of Valencia. If the central Grau feels busy, this is where to walk: the crowds thin out, and the same fine golden sand continues beneath dunes thick with vegetation and reeds.
Heading south, the beach runs toward the mouth of the Palancia river and the natural areas around it, giving this end a quieter, more open feel than the urban core of Puerto de Sagunto. The water here is calm and clean, and during the summer season you still have the full range of beach services on hand, so choosing the quieter spot does not mean going without.
For visitors and expats based around Valencia, Playa Sur is an easy introduction to the gentler side of the Sagunto coast. It is part of the wider Puerto de Sagunto beach that holds the Blue Flag, so you are swimming on certified, well-kept sand even as the setting turns wilder toward the dunes and the river.
Reviewers reward it with a strong 4.6 stars, and it is easy to see why: the same golden sand and clear shallows as the main beach, with a slower rhythm and a touch more nature. Bring a hat, settle in beside the reeds, and let the afternoon stretch out.

A beautiful white sand beach that extends for miles. There's plenty of small seafood restaurants along a paved boulevard serving very reasonably priced seafood and drinks!
Best beach I’ve been to in Spain!
